As part of the Integrity and Fight against Corruption Awards 2022
AMAN launches the Shireen Abu Akleh Award for Investigative Reports
Ramallah / Gaza – The Coalition for Accountability and Integrity (AMAN) has named the Award for the Best Investigative Report in honour of Martyr Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot and assassinated by an Israeli sniper. The assassination was in attempt to silence the truth and muzzle eye witnesses of injustice, occupation, and unchecked rampage throughout the occupied Palestinian territory. The initiative is set to uphold the standard of Abu Akleh’s courage and bravery, which extended over 25 years of truth.
As one of the Awards of Integrity and Fight against Corruption, the Award for Investigative Reports is given on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day. It falls within the context of AMAN’s efforts to strengthen integrity and fight against corruption in Palestinian society, encourage citizens to engage in efforts to fight corruption, and report cases of corruption. The call for applications for the award is open until 15 October 2022.
Of note, applications for the award fall into three categories: (1) civil servants and local government staff who report, refuse to engage in, give an official testimony about, or provided information on any corruption case, or make an initiate that contributes to promoting the integrity and anti-corruption system at their institutions; (2) media representatives who develop and publish investigative reports on a corruption case; and (3) researchers who produce the best research paper on the integrity and anti-corruption system.
