AMAN calls for commitment to the values and principles of integrity and transparency and the publication of all information related to the management of the relief process and the delivery and distribution of aid in the Gaza Strip

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, in conjunction with the announcement of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, aid trucks began arriving in the north and south of the Strip, with nearly 4,000 trucks loaded with relief aid and fuel, according to official statistics from the Egyptian side, during the first week of the temporary truce, which is scheduled to last for 42 days. About 600 trucks are expected to continue to flow daily, including 50 fuel trucks, to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The Coalition for Integrity and Accountability (AMAN) emphasizes that the resumption of the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid is an important step in the early recovery process of the Gaza Strip, despite the complexities and increasing challenges facing the Strip as a whole, and calls on all parties to adhere to the values and principles of integrity and transparency and to publish all information related to the management of the relief process and the delivery and distribution of aid in the Gaza Strip.

AMAN also stresses the importance of the vital role played by all international and UN organizations, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in providing essential and life-saving humanitarian services, which calls for strengthening its support and protecting it from the occupation's continuous attempts to end its operations.

Based on what has been reported and what is happening on the ground, AMAN emphasizes the following:

  •  AMAN welcomes the Palestinian Cabinet's decision to establish an emergency government operations room for the southern governorates (Gaza Strip), in which all relevant ministries and government institutions are represented, calling on the Cabinet to coordinate with active civil society organizations in the Gaza Strip and determine the steps required for effective action and to develop an urgent plan for relief, early recovery and emergency response and publish it to citizens, including mechanisms for organizing humanitarian aid, identifying shelters, a mechanism for distributing temporary homes, a public works plan and local bodies to open roads and remove rubble.
  • All parties involved in managing the early recovery process must commit to disclosure (from the Department of Humanitarian Aid, Temporary Housing, and Vital Services), and publish information about it periodically to avoid confusion or mismanagement.
  • Official authorities, UN agencies, and relevant civil society organizations should coordinate the process of receiving and distributing aid to ensure fair and orderly access for all citizens. This is especially important given the severe humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, which requires clarity on the roles and responsibilities of all relevant parties.
  •  Strengthen international advocacy efforts to hold the Israeli occupation accountable and compel it not to create obstacles to the flow of humanitarian aid. The international community must assume its responsibility to pressure the Israeli occupation to restore the supply of water and electricity to citizens in the Gaza Strip, allow the entry of humanitarian and relief aid, and deliver it appropriately to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
