This study aimed to examine the reality of financial distress among the Palestinian local authorities, identify its causes, and explore its impact on the services provided to citizens. It also sought to analyse the implications of financial distress on the public treasury due to the accumulation of debts owed by the local authorities to Israeli service providers and to present practical recommendations for addressing this distress and mitigating its effects.
